About The Event
This special exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and traces the organization's history from its founding in 1926 to the present, showing how a small preservation effort grew into the world's largest living history museum.
The exhibit explores the vision of Rev. Dr. W. A. R. Goodwin and John D. Rockefeller Jr., whose partnership launched the restoration of Williamsburg's 18th-century buildings. Through more than 200 artifacts—including architectural drawings, archaeological discoveries, photographs, tools, decorative arts, and museum objects—visitors learn how research, preservation, archaeology, and historical interpretation have evolved over the past century.
Our schedule:
3:00 PM-Hennage Auditorium- Join museum curators Neal Hurst, Curator of Historic Textiles & Historic Dress and Katie McKinney, Margaret Beck Pritchard Curator of Maps & Prints for a special welcome and private introduction to this very special exhibit showcasing 100 years of Colonial Williamsburg followed by a guided tour of the exhibit with Neal Hurst and Katie McKinney.
3:15 PM - entrance into the Henry H. Weldon Gallery to tour the exhibit with Neal Hurst and Katie McKinney.
** You may choose to arrive at the museum early to dine in the cafe and tour the museum. The museum will officially close at 5:00 PM.
A $10 Non-Member fee will be collected at the door for all guests attending with a TVHS member.
